Three Useful Articles
Every blog post, ezine and podcast audio interview from The Creative Penn has been very useful and insightful, so picking three out of these articles has proven to be quite difficult. However, if you like what these articles below have explored, feel free to browse the archives at the site.
Killing the sacred cows of publishing with Dean Wesley Smith
In this podcast, Penn talks to a bestselling author about a variety of things writing-related, but most importantly about his series of articles on Killing the Sacred Cows of Publishing. There is definitely a lot of surprising insights to be found in this podcast about the nature of publishing.
Podcast on Self-Publishing: Your Questions answered with indie author April Hamilton
This is another podcast, although there is an attached transcript to it as well. This time, the blog interviews an indie author who has a lot to say about self-publishing. For anyone interested in going down the self-publishing route, this is quite an interesting podcast.
7 Reasons why you should read your book out aloud
As the title suggests, there is definitely merit in reading your novel drafts out loud, including gauging how good your dialogue is and the pacing of the novel.

2017
I need to stop disappearing off dA for so long. A part of me feels like I've come back only to read my old journal entries and to see how far I've come as a person. How much I've grown as a person. Basically, dA has been my one semi-continuous journal of my life throughout the years. :P This year has been a year of huge personal growth. I know every year that passes feels like that, but this year has definitely topped it in terms of the risk I've taken.
A quick summary of where I am now: I've quit my job as a journalist and I'm now working in a small commercial law firm as their digital marketing manager. At least that's what I prefer to cal
Dilemmas
I interviewed at a small law firm today for a paid position to write blogs about legal issues and help out as a paralegal if required. Basically this has been the best opportunity to get into law for me, after recent knockbacks because of my dire lack of legal experience to date (as all I’ve done is work full-time in journalism and volunteer at a non-profit on the weekends).
Anyway, they came back to me with a tentative job offer on the same day as my job interview. They can only give me a formal offer letter next week because the person responsible for the HR stuff is away this week and they can’t give me any specifics on remune
What a Day
Gosh i knew October 4 would be a huge turning point in my life but had no idea it would pan out like this. *warning* just a bit of a rant to sort my thoughts out.
Thanks to all who commented. I read them all and am very touched for your support. I certainly needed it today. Long story short, i got the call that i didn't get the clerkship. I asked for feedback but got the generic line about strong candidates and i still presented well as a candidate. Although i prepared for rejection it still hurt. Of course i took this call while i was at work. Awkwardly enough i was also in the middle of a conversation on my work phone so i had to put them
Ten Years
Wow I can't believe it's been ten years since I joined as a creative but super naive 14-year-old. A decade passes super quickly, and yet when I read my past journals I can't help but wonder why on earth am I stuck in another shitty mentally ill cycle again. Has nothing really changed in 10 years on that front? Or perhaps it has, and this is just another of those times where it's gonna get worse till it gets better.
Sorry for the very extended absence. There's a little voice in my head that says I'll be back in some capacity in the future, but I'm not sure exactly when. Mostly because I need an outlet to write for fun again, challenge myself
